Thank you Wild Bill and Sasha for the feedback regarding slowing down on my morning runs. Typically I push myself to the point of needing to walk to either catch my breath or to stop the burn in my legs. This morning I ran 6.0 miles at a comfortable pace, mind you my legs where a little tight from yesterday's run (because I pushed to hard) and they did not loosen up until mile 5:( but I kept up my pace and did not stop. My 6.0 loop is not 100% flat like I would like it to be so when I hit the hills it was not my legs that were the problem but rather my lungs...they burned really good but in a bad way..lol!!! Plus it does not help that my allergies have kicked into high gear which does not lend it self well to breathing normally. All problems aside, I was able to RUN not walk the entire 6.0 miles...and get this, even though I slowed my pace down I still ran a 10.0 min mile. I don't use a watch to time my miles, I just run...so when I got home and looked at the clock I had to laugh at the fact that I ran the same loop in the same amount of time that I would have if I pushed myself. |
