Got the Boston Marathon bug yesterday!!! For the past 14 years I have been cheering those that fly by...and every year I always say, "Hey, I should run this thing", then everyone can cheer me on.  It was a pure rush watching the thousands of runners wisk by and I could feel the energy...So I am going to bite the bullet and bust my hump to get to the starting line next year.

6:30 A.M. - 7:30 A.M. 45 degrees 6.0 miles today at 10 minute pace...good weather. I felt slow and pushed myself to run without walking but I had to walk a couple of times.  I normally run 4 miles a day but I need to start bumping up the mileage.  I will jump back on the road tomorrow same time...hopefully my legs/lungs feel stronger.

6:30 - 7:00 AM  Another Great Morning Run!!!  Weather conditions were perfect, bright sunny skies with a temp around 50 degrees.

Ran 3.5 miles at 8.57 clip.  I continue to tire and walk a little more than I want to.  I think I hold back because I am nervous about injuring myself.  I have never had a serious injury but it's always a major concern of mine.  After reading top ten running mistakes I know that I should be working on building my distance up before working on my speed.

I am also having a hard time getting into the zone...I find this has to do with my breathing being all over the place and having no cadence to my runs because I have to walk sometimes.  I am hoping with time and more miles I can find the zone.

Welcome to the blog! What is it exactly that makes you want to walk? Muscle/joint pain, out of breath, heavy legs?

In any case, do not force the pace especially if it makes you run less. 10:00 is good. 11:00 is good as well.

welcome to the blog! just keep it slow and easy. your body will tell you when your ready to pick up the pace.

Hey Sasha, The walking occurs because my legs get heavy, and I am having a hard time focusing "getting in the zone". I know that I will get better with more training. thanks for the follow up:)

You are probably running too fast. Try running a lot slower than what you think you should. Go for distance, not speed. The speed will eventually come. In truth, the speed is already there, but the endurance is not, and the endurance is developed more by going long than my going fast.

Welcome to the blog, if I didnt have the crowd in boston pushing me, I probably would have dropped out this year. You are insipiring people! Thats why your local athletes do so well you push them to the max! Go Sox, Go Celtics, Go Bruins!

Weather: 59 Clear Skies, No wind.

Thank you Wild Bill and Sasha for the feedback regarding slowing down on my morning runs.  Typically I push myself to the point of needing to walk to either catch my breath or to stop the burn in my legs.  This morning I ran 6.0 miles at a comfortable pace, mind you my legs where a little tight from yesterday's run (because I pushed to hard) and they did not loosen up until mile 5:( but I kept up my pace and did not stop. My 6.0 loop is not 100%  flat like I would like it to be so when I hit the hills it was not my legs that were the problem but rather my lungs...they burned really good but in a bad way..lol!!!  Plus it does not help that my allergies have kicked into high gear which does not lend it self well to breathing normally.  All problems aside, I was able to RUN not walk the entire 6.0 miles...and get this, even though I slowed my pace down I still ran a 10.0 min mile.  I don't use a watch to time my miles, I just run...so when I got home and looked at the clock I had to laugh at the fact that I ran the same loop in the same amount of time that I would have if I pushed myself.
